Track Refund

During the course of the year we find that there are a few questions that most of you will ask. We have compiled this list of FAQ's to answer some of those questions.

Questions:
What is the standard mileage rate for 2010?
What are the due dates for individual estimates?
When will organizers be mailed?
Should I respond to an IRS email?

Answers:
What is the standard mileage rate for 2010?
Beginning 01/01/10:

50.0 cents for business

16.5 cents for medical/moving

14.0 cents for charitable

The optional business standard mileage rate is used to compute the deductible costs of operating a vehicle for business use in lieu of of tracking actual costs.

What are the due dates for individual estimates?
April 15, 2009

June 16, 2009

Sep 15, 2009

Jan 15, 2010

When will organizers be mailed?
We usually try to prepare and have your organizer mailed prior to Jan 15th. If you want an organizer and have not received it by that date, please phone our office at (616) 742-1300.

Should I respond to an IRS email?
Absolutely not. The IRS will never contact you via email. The email that you receive that appears to be from the IRS is actually sent by "scamsters" which are trying to trick unsuspecting victims into revealing their personal financial information. Usually the victim is lured in by the promise of a tax refund. If you receive an email that appears to be from the IRS you should forward it to the Service at their new mailbox at phishing@irs.gov.
